The Alamo Cenotaph (“the Spirit of Sacrifice”) was vandalized with racist graffiti, probably on Friday, 5/29, in the early morning hours. The graffiti include “white supremacy” and “profits over people” messages with arrows pointing down. These are typical leftist slogans repeated by mindless snowflakes who have been indoctrinated by radical college professors.
The idea that the Alamo and the Cenotaph (pictured) are symbols of white supremacy and Anglo-American imperialism has been an undercurrent in the entire remaking of the site. Statist planners, who are not even Texans, have colluded with like-minded politicians to rewrite the history of the Alamo and change its symbolism.
This act of vandalism is an indicator of how leftist politicians and community leaders want to abolish symbols of Texas’ freedom and liberty in the name of inclusion, political correctness, and racial/cultural sensitivity. These politicians and community leaders are socially insecure, emotionally immature, and anti-American and anti-Texan.
It also shows how misdirected and misguided the protests about the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis have become – what does a monument in San Antonio have to do with the tragic death of a black man in Minneapolis?
This vandalism is an insult to the defenders of the Alamo and a public display of the anger and ignorance many show toward America and Texas’ roots. The political and community leaders of San Antonio must condemn this vandalism, not excuse it or justify it, and the perpetrators must be prosecuted.
