On Monday, December 7, 2020, the Howard County [MD] Council will be voting on the Sanctuary Bill CB63. It was drafted by the illegal alien support group CASA of Maryland, and the group is utilizing the gullible Councilman Opel Jones as the sponsor. This bill, if implemented, is dangerous to the safety and well-being of honest Howard County citizens.
Here is a short summary of CB63, which Jones, a university undergraduate mathematics teacher by trade, clearly did not develop on his own: “AN ACT providing that County employees shall take, or refrain from taking, specified actions with respect to the immigration status of specified individuals; prohibiting certain discrimination based on immigration status; requiring that certain information related to citizenship status be kept confidential; providing a procedure whenever specified provisions may be preempted by other law; requiring specified officials to take actions under certain circumstances; and generally relating to human rights in Howard County.”
This is the same mindless and unnecessary sanctuary nonsense developed and implemented by Baltimore City, Prince George’s, and Montgomery Counties to protect criminal illegal aliens from arrest, detainment, and deportation.
Why? Because the busybodies at CASA of Maryland, with help from the ACLU and other faux “immigrant” action groups, decided that it’s ok to have illegal aliens use our tax dollars to: attend and overwhelm public schools, drive with licenses on our roads, obtain in-state college tuition, commit crimes and allow MS-13 gang violence with impunity from the law, obtain work via CASA day laborer job centers, receive free healthcare, housing, food, and energy assistance and more. All in plain sight of state and local officials, and hidden from view of federal law enforcement officials.
It’s an economic, social, criminal, and educational nightmare for the largest counties in Maryland and Howard County Council leaders want to join the club.
Remember the bill actually states, “The Howard County Council wishes to ensure that all residents of Howard County, regardless of nationality or citizenship, shall have fair and equal access to County benefits, opportunities and services.”
Seriously? Just what the citizens of Howard County want and need during the Coronavirus health and economic crisis.
What Can You Do To Stop Sanctuary Bill CB63 From Becoming Law?
Hundreds and hundreds of citizens are opposed to Sanctuary Bill CB63 including a large majority of the Asian American immigrant community in Howard. Immigrants who came to American and Howard County legally and are now citizens.
They understand the legal immigration process and abhor border-jumping illegals cutting the line, demanding recognition and free services from the taxpayers (with coaching assistance from CASA of Maryland).
Howard Council Member David Yungmann (pictured) also gets it and has been openly opposed to the bill from day one.
Please contact the remaining Howard Council members and tell them to Vote NO this Monday, December 7 (Pearl Harbor Day) on Sanctuary Bill CB63.
No sanctuary wanted or needed in Howard County!
