New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio attempted to enter the U.S. illegally from Mexico on June 21st and he and his security detail are either ignorant of the law, stupid, or liars. U.S. Customs and Border Protection sent de Blasio a letter about it, which he decried as a distraction.
There is no doubt that he and his entourage broke the law. They crossed the border illegally.
On Wednesday, the mayor called the allegation “absolutely ridiculous.”
Well no, not ridiculous and not “alleged.” Legally entering the United States MUST be done at a Port of Entry. Even U.S. citizens are not allowed to simply stroll across the border anywhere they choose without inspection.
AP reported, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and his security detail violated both Mexican and U.S. immigration laws by crossing the border on foot during a visit near El Paso, Texas, U.S. Customs and Border Protection alleges in a letter … a uniformed Border Patrol agent noticed a group standing in the Rio Grande flood plain south of the Tornillo, Texas, port of entry, taking photos of the holding facility. The agent asked if anyone from Border Patrol or public affairs was there to authorize their presence. An NYPD inspector said no, according to the letter, and when the agent asked the group how they arrived, they pointed to Mexico … .The agent told them they’d crossed the border illegally and asked them to remain there while he got a supervisor and took them to an official crossing for an inspection per federal law, according to the letter. But the group disregarded the order, walking back to their vehicles and driving back to Mexico, according to the letter. They re-entered by car through a port of entry about three hours later, the letter said.
“But the group disregarded the order … .”
From the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website:
U.S. citizens entering the U.S. at sea or land ports of entry are required to have documents that comply with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, which are a U.S. passport, a passport card, a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST, or an enhanced driver’s license.
De Blasio has had a few name changes from Warren Wilhelm Jr., born on May 8, 1961, in Manhattan, according to his birth certificate. He changed it to Warren de Blasio-Wilhelm in 1983, and then to the current “Bill de Blasio” in 2002.
Pacific Pundit ran a piece in 2014 claiming that de Blasio was a communist and that he supported the Sandinista government in Nicaragua and even joined the Nicaragua Solidarity Network of Greater New York.
The New York mayor’s behavior and lying after the fact fit his profile perfectly.
