Kris Kobach, Secretary of State of Kansas, won his party’s nomination for governor this week. If you do a DuckDuckGo search of Kobach, you will see him described as a “nativist son,” the “lawyer for America’s nativist movement,” “architect of draconian anti-immigrant policies,” and other nonsense by the open borders, pro-amnesty, anti-American left.
One thing you see often is the reference to The Presidential Commission on Voter Integrity, created by President Trump by Executive Order. The Commission was led by Vice President Mike Pence and Kobach was the Vice Chair. News reports call it “Kobach’s voter fraud committee,” and say that it never produced any proof of illegal voting. This is just misinformation and outright lying by the lame stream media and the left.
The ABC News story from August 5th does admit, “Many states refused to comply with the panel’s request for voter information.”
Since most of the states contacted by the Commission didn’t comply with requests for voter information as required by law for the last 25 years, the Commission could not find much of anything about voter fraud. The state of Alabama wanted $33,000 for their records.
The National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA) says that states shall make records available for public inspection:
(1) Each State shall maintain for at least 2 years and shall make available for public inspection and, where available, photocopying at a reasonable cost, all records concerning the implementation of programs and activities conducted for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy and currency of official lists of eligible voters, except to the extent that such records relate to a declination to register to vote or to the identity of a voter registration agency through which any particular voter is registered.
I personally submitted NVRA requests to 9 counties in California and was ignored by all of them.
Reviews of some voter records has revealed that applicants for driver licenses, be they legal immigrants or illegal aliens, were registered to vote even after they honestly and correctly checked “NO” to the question: “Are you a U.S. Citizen?” Whether this indicates corruption or simple bureaucratic incompetence is unknown. But it has happened, and an inspection of the documents would likely find many, many more. But no cooperation by the states prevents that.
One of the ways to deter illegal voting is to prosecute, very publicly, those who vote illegally.
Also if registrars of voters are found to have broken the law by registering non-citizens to vote, they should be prosecuted as well. That will get the others in the country to shape up.
Election integrity is now more important than ever. Maintaining our Republic depends on it.
You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life. [Winston Churchill.]
