Jorge Ramos, the Univision personality known by some as the “Walter Cronkite of Latin America,” has just done a terrific thing. No he hasn’t left America and returned to Mexico. After Donald Trump was elected, Ramos said it was the ‘worst time’ of his 35 years in the United States, and said he was pining to return to Mexico. Well, not yet.
What he has done, inadvertently I would opine, is send a strong deterrent message to future potential illegal aliens.
As a result of the stalled “caravan” in Tijuana, Ramos announced on Monday, April 30th, in a FOX News interview, that America was becoming a “… hostile and even dangerous country for refugees and immigrants.” FOX News Latino also has the interview on their website.
This is great news.
Consider this. The people who understandably want to escape the corrupt, brutal, narco-terrorist dictatorships in Central America have now been told by the esteemed Ramos, who is purportedly the best-known Spanish-language news anchor in America, that America is hostile and dangerous for “refugees and immigrants” (read that as illegal aliens).
In a CNN interview in 2015, Ramos declared that the U.S. government should not enforce its immigration laws even after illegal aliens have killed Americans, because that would be “completely unfair” to the illegal alien population.
Ramos gave a speech in February of 2017 during Premios Lo Nuestro, or “Our Awards” on Univision where he told the audience in Spanish that the United States belongs to Latino migrants, emphatically stating to a Spanish-speaking audience that “It is our country, not theirs.”
In 2015, Time Magazine listed Ramos the most influential Hispanic anchor in the country, and one of its annual 100 most influential people. They even put his face on the cover of the magazine. And now he is uttering this fantastic deterrent message. One can only hope that it is translated into Spanish and is aired on every news outlet from Los Angeles to Tierra del Fuego.
After this proclamation about America being “hostile and dangerous… ,” let’s hope that he is as influential as Time Magazine says he is.
Thanks Jorge. Keep it up.
