This is the fifth year of the DACA deception. Let’s remember where this began. The Obama Administration decided in June of 2012 not to enforce the immigration law regarding the removal of up to 1.76 million illegal aliens, so called Dreamers. His Executive Action was illegal. The executive does not make law in America; Congress does. But in this case, the executive declared, illegally, that there was going to be “deferred action” against illegal aliens. It was directed at younger, illegal aliens for the exact reason you are hearing now … sympathy for “the children.”
“They came with their parents, it’s not their fault” as the whine goes.
One of the untruths about DACA is that it was intended to be temporary and that any legal action was only being “deferred.” That makes it sound temporary, not permanent, which was the goal, of course, to make them permanent. That way, the supporters could claim it wasn’t an amnesty, which the American people do not want. But that is exactly what DACA was designed to be. A few years would go by, then, “How can we send them back now that they’ve been here so long … .” Etc.
Another untruth was/is that these are all children. A 32-year-old adult qualified for DACA in 2012. That adult is now 37 years old. The word “child” is being used as cover for this amnesty of adult illegal aliens. And if the “child” is actually 42 or 45 years old, but swears he/she was 32 before June 2012, who is going to contradict them?
The impact on our communities has been disruptive. In the past five years, over 2,000 (at least) DACA recipients lost that status because of criminal activity. In most states they qualify for welfare.
The DACA declaration had its desired effect with a torrential flood of “unaccompanied children.”
In the two-year period between June 2012 and June 2014, approximately 580,000 were given a quasi, “temporary,” legal status; an exemption from enforcement and removal. The White House was currently claiming 730,000.
Of course, that was only the first step. It was inevitable that it would be expanded, and it was.
In November 2014, to allow even more illegal aliens into the country, Secretary of DHS Jeh Johnson issued several policy memorandums, one of them expanding DACA to almost everyone. The 31-year age limit, announced by Obama in 2012 was removed. DACA then applied to anyone who said (lied) they entered our country illegally before 16 years of age regardless of how old they were on June 15, 2012. Age restrictions no longer applied.
In 2014, over 60,000 “children” poured into the United States, ten times more than the number just a year before the DACA amnesty was announced. So, mission accomplished by the open borders crowd.
The amount doubled in 2015.
You can see from the USCIS website, the number of DACA requests by June 2016 was over 1.5 million.
The number could be as high as 3.3 million if Schumer and Pelosi’s numbers are correct.
President Trump has now stopped the illegal program and put the ball into Congress’s court in an approaching election year. And how Congress will deal with it is a big question mark.
We already know that the open borders crowd will be trotting out every sympathetic face they can to hide the reality of this travesty called DACA. There are truly sympathetic cases, to be sure. But the massive corruption that DACA has engendered must be dealt with, or the flood of “children” will begin again with even more dire consequences for our communities, our culture, and our country.
