Senator Lindsey Graham, on Thursday, March 5, 2020, said President Trump met with some Republican senators, and that he is “receptive” to a package that would keep Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) protections in place. If that is true, it would be a slippery slope that would excuse and reward illegal immigration.
DACA was created by an Obama Executive Order, which circumvented Congress. The Supreme Court will decide, perhaps in June, if the action was unconstitutional.
However, DACA has encouraged hundreds of thousands of minors to be brought illegally to the U.S. to benefit from the program. These minors have been “reunified” with family members and created a train of immigrants benefiting from an unconstitutional program and policy.
While the DACA recipients entered the U.S. as minors, they entered ILLEGALLY, and what part of the word ILLEGAL don’t DACA supporters understand? DACA excuses people who are illegally in the country, justifies their presence because they were brought as minors, and rewards them by allowing them to remain in the country, and possibly get a pathway to citizenship.
We cannot excuse, justify, or reward any illegal immigration or any criminal act because it becomes a slippery slope for undermining law and order.
