On June 28, another leftist judge issued a permanent injunction blocking the Trump Administration from using Department of Defense funds to build a section of the border wall. Judge Haywood Gilliam of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, one of the most liberal in the country, ruled in favor of a lawsuit filed by the Sierra Club, which claimed reprogramming the funds was a violation of federal law. Next step is an appeal by the Department of Justice to the notorious Ninth Circuit, then on to the Supreme Courts, if history gives us any clue.
However, taxpayer money isn’t the only source of funds that can be used to build the border wall. An Iraq War veteran, and triple amputee, Brian Kolfage, started a GoFundMe account in December of 2018 that has raised $24,716,406 of his one billion dollar goal, with 291,473 donations. The donations keep coming in, the average is about $84.00.
Thank you, Brian and all who have contributed.
Now with the Independence Day holiday coming in a few days, and President Trump wanting to speak to Americans that day, I was thinking what if the president made the announcement that he was starting a GoFundMe page with the express purpose of funding border wall construction? His influence could have an enormous effect on contributions.
Imagine if the most pro border security president in modern times requested that Americans who support our immigration laws contribute $100.00. What would be the effect? One million contributions in 24 hours, or maybe two million? They’d have to take measures to be sure the Internet didn’t crash. The anti-border security media would go bonkers and give his request nonstop coverage, with every open border advocate in the country spouting off.
Two-hundred million dollars could be raised in a couple days, half a billion dollars by the end of the first week.
Then, legally of course, the money could be transferred to whomever the funds should be paid to continue border wall construction.
No doubt the open borders screamers would file lawsuits and all the stuff they have done in the past to try to stop the wall. But that would be good theater to educate people about who supports immigration law enforcement, and who will do everything and anything to oppose it.
You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life. [Winston Churchill.]
