At the daily briefing last Thursday morning, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was yelled at and accused of not having any “empathy” during her briefing about the practice of separating children from their illegal alien families.
Brian Karem, a Playboy magazine reporter who is also a CNN political analyst, yelled out, “Don’t you have any empathy? Come on, Sarah. You’re a parent. Don’t you have any empathy for what these people are going through? They have less than you do. Sarah, come on, seriously.”
CNN’s Jim Acosta asked, “Can you imagine the horror these kids must be going through when they come across the border. They’re with their parents and they’re suddenly pulled away from their parents ― why is the government doing this?”
Really, Jim, why is the government doing this? To enforce our immigration laws and send a deterrent message to the rest of the world not to come to our country illegally.
These remarks from the open borders/amnesty crowd are not surprising. They are using the children for the exact reason for which they were invited to come illegally to our country by the previous administration. Because enforcement of our immigration laws that impacts on children, whose lives by the way, have been risked by their own parents, gives them a talking point that makes immigration law enforcement seem particularly harsh.
Certainly fair-minded people have empathy with, at least sympathy for those fleeing a terrible life to come to America. We have all seen the horrible circumstances in Third World countries. The crime, violence, mal nutrition, disease, lack of opportunities, all of it, has been seen on television. And most of those living in these backward, horrible circumstances have seen on television how we live in America and want to come here to live like us. Nobody can blame them.
However, the answer to easing the suffering in the world is to help people improve their lives in their own country. We cannot let hundreds of millions of “refugees” swamp our shores. We have to consider the horrible impact that it would have on our country and our culture.
One need only look to Europe and what they are dealing with to understand the destruction of a culture by massive immigration.
You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life. [Winston Churchill.]
