On Wednesday, former Obama Administration DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano said, “the U.S. Mexico border is not a national security threat.” The same day, Neil Munro of Breitbart published a column entitled, “U.S. Border is at Breaking Point Says Border Protection Chief.”
We have not heard much from Napolitano since she left the Obama Administration to become President of the University of California (U.C.) system, without any experience in university management. She did, however, as one of her first acts, allocate more support for the illegal alien students in the U.C. system.
Napolitano was Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security in December 2010, when Attorney General Eric Holder’s gun-walker program, “Fast and Furious” was arming the murderous drug smuggling Sinaloa Cartel. At least one, and maybe more, Fast and Furious rifles were used against BORTAC (the Delta Force of the Border Patrol) the night that Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed in Peck Canyon, Arizona, just minutes off of Interstate Highway 19 and 15 miles north of Nogales, by an illegal alien gang that smuggled drugs and people into the country. Under ridiculous orders, Terry and another agent were armed with non-lethal bean bag rounds in their shotguns. Terry paid for his superior’s stupidity with his life. I was told shortly after that the Border Patrol knew that one of the rifles was a Fast and Furious gun before Terry’s lifeless body was removed from the site.
When Napolitano was the Governor of Arizona she supported “Comprehensive Immigration Reform,” which is Orwellian Newspeak for amnesty for illegal aliens. In 2012, it was Napolitano who used “prosecutorial discretion” to create Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which was/is an amnesty for illegal aliens. DACA was proclaimed by President Obama in the Rose Garden right after its creation, which was a clear abuse of presidential executive authority.
I just spoke to a retired Border Patrol agent who told me that he was hearing that things were so bad at the border that they needed the military to deploy troops immediately to help deal with the crisis.
Napolitano said in her condolence message to Agent Terry’s family, “We will honor his memory by remaining resolute and committed to the serious task of securing our nation’s borders.”
So securing the border was more serious then than it is now with caravan after caravan of illegal aliens flooding across the border?
