The U.S. House of Representatives was the location of a real spectacle on Wednesday, as former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-San(ctuary) Francisco) took to the floor for a speech that lasted eight hours and seven minutes, a House record, but not much more.
The subject of the speech was her support for illegal aliens in America. She thanked the parents of so-called “dreamers” who broke our law by bring their children here illegally.
“I say to their parents, Thank you for bringing these Dreamers to America. We’re in your debt for the courage it took, for you to take the risk, physically, politically, in every way to do so,” she said.
This is not the first time Pelosi has shown her love for illegal aliens. In early 2017, Pelosi lied about President Trump’s plans for increased enforcement as a “military operation.”
Pelosi’s most notorious moment was in 2009, when as Speaker of the House of Representatives, she told a church full of illegal aliens in San Francisco, “You are a special people. You’re here on a Saturday night to take responsibility for our country’s future. That makes you very, ver patriotic taking responsibility for our country’s future.”
She said that it was “un-American” to enforce our employment and immigration laws. And incredibly, she then told the illegal aliens that their illegal entry into our country has, “… made America more American.” And that it was, “un-American” to enforce our laws.
What did Pelosi’s speech accomplish? Nothing legislatively. The pro-illegal alien lobby could do nothing about a spending package that didn’t address “dreamers,” but had to do something. Anything was better than nothing, because doing nothing would have caused a rift in the party and cost them support at the polls.
The plan was to set a new record, which she did. Now, rather than responding sheepishly if challenged that they did nothing to help illegal aliens, she can point to the “record speech” in the House in support of them.
The whole charade (a blatant pretense or deception, especially of something so full of pretense as to be a travesty) will actually convince some people that she accomplished something, which she did if she managed to pull the wool over the eyes of those wanting and expecting an amnesty for illegal aliens. And it will encourage some who hear about it in other countries to come to America illegally.
But in the end, Pelosi’s farce will do nothing to achieve amnesty … thankfully.
