Last Friday, the Nevada Secretary of State, Barbara Cegavske, sent a letter to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) stating that her office plans to request records from the DMV as part of an investigation into illegal voting by noncitizens.
Illegal aliens don’t get a driver license in Nevada, they get a Driver Authorization Card that supposedly is not a valid I.D. for state or federal purposes. The allegation is that some DMV employees have been knowingly giving noncitizens voter registration forms. In the letter to Terri Albertson, the Director of the DMV, Cegavske, stated that, “DMV employees have been instructed to accept voter registration materials from all customers, including those who present a Green Card for identification purposes.” And, she ordered the DMV to stop the practice.
There is some bureaucratic back-and-forth, but an investigation is clearly in order.
Then Cegavske made the statement that many of us have been waiting for, for years:
“After we received verifiable evidence of potential illegal votes cast in the 2016 general election, we launched an investigation. The integrity of the entire election process, from voter registration to the casting of ballots, is always my number one concern. Although we are in the nascent stages of the investigation, we have confirmed there were illegal noncitizen votes cast in the 2016 general election … .”
They are certain to find illegal voting in the last election. Hopefully, this will begin a national movement, supported by Americans everywhere, that will clean up the voter rolls and prevent voter fraud in the coming 2018 mid-term election.
Nevada lawmakers are currently considering legislation that would require the DMV to notify the Secretary of State about noncitizens who get the Driver Authorization Card that would then lead to a check to see if they’re registered to vote. That kind of cross checking can be done very quickly and accurately and should be the model for cleaning up voter registration rolls nationwide.
Cegavaske says that her office has confirmed some noncitizens have illegally cast votes in the 2016 general election.
The first question is: How many voted in the last election?
The outcome of this investigation should prove to be very interesting.
