U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said on Tuesday said the feds will add 50 immigration judges this year and another 75 judges next year to deal with the rising number of deportations.
And right on cue, the opposition to ending illegal immigration and deporting illegal aliens began using the cost of deportation to try to reduce public support for enforcement. CNN reports, “Each deportation conducted by ICE cost taxpayers an average of $10,854 in fiscal 2016, an official from the agency told CNNMoney. This amount includes everything from housing and feeding a detainee to transporting him back to his home country.”
It does seem that the left, the mainstream media, and the “Barbarians of Modern Liberalism” (as Judge Robert Bork called them in “Slouching Towards Gomorrah”) do have a concern over government spending after all …but only if it thwarts an anti-American agenda they support, like illegal immigration.
Deportation is the final stage of the illegal immigration process. The first thing to do is discourage illegal aliens from coming in the first place. That is what all this talk about the wall and deportation is designed to do. It tells everyone, but most especially the illegal aliens here and those planning to come illegally, that enforcement is a priority. If the discouraging message is heard widely around the planet, the numbers coming will decrease … which they have since President Trump took office.
- Discouraging illegal aliens from coming – Cost: $0.
- Encouraging illegal aliens here to leave on their own – Cost: $0.
- Deporting illegal aliens – $10,854 each if CNN’s estimate is correct.
The talk of the wall has been a discouraging message that has cost nothing. Building it will cost a lot of money, but will have the long-term effects over the coming years of reducing illegal immigration and making border security and enforcement easier.
Enforcing our employment laws – workplace enforcement – will encourage millions to leave our country of their own accord, as taking jobs away from illegal aliens will result in millions of illegal alien workers returning to their nation of origin (not to mention creating more opportunities and higher wages for American workers). By making verification of eligibility to work in our country mandatory for all current employees and new hires, millions of illegal aliens will have no reason to stay in America and most will leave and it will further discourage new illegal aliens from coming – Cost: $0.
Cutting off welfare, food stamps, and other taxpayer-subsidized benefits to illegal aliens will also encourage illegal aliens to leave the country and save millions of tax dollars.
Ending so-called “birthright citizenship” will have the dual effect of convincing illegals there is no reason to remain in our country, or come here in the first place. It will additionally end “birth tourism” (to have a baby in the U.S. that is given, incorrectly, U.S. citizenship).
“Yes, Virginia,” law enforcement does cost. And the past two decades of virtually ignoring border security and employment laws has led to a problem that will take some time to correct. However, by cutting off jobs and welfare and birthright citizenship, the problem won’t be getting worse as we deal with the current situation.
And, self-deportation won’t cost the taxpayer a dime.
